Free Webinar Soothing Herbs for the Intestines*. Recorded February 16, 2021. Presented by Dr. Lise Alschuler, ND, FABNO
A key component of a healthy colon is its mucus gel layer. The quality of this mucosal barrier is affected by lifestyle and various disease states. Furthermore, a breakdown of this physiological barrier is implicated in various local and systemic inflammatory and neoplastic diseases. Botanicals, notably demulcents, have a unique and powerful role in maintaining a healthy mucus layer in the colon. This talk will present some of these less well-studied, but highly effective, herbs to maintain the health of the colonic mucosal barrier.
Botanicals discussed: Ulmus fulva (Slippery elm), Althea officinalis (Marshmallow), Aloe spp., Zingiber officinalis (Ginger), Matricaria recutita (Chamomile)”
