Stress-induced Sleep Challenges: Limbic System Restoration with Botanicals
According to the American Sleep Association 50-70 million adults in the U.S. struggle with normal sleep patterns. Circadian rhythm disruption is associated with sleep issues. The limbic system mediates this connection. Understanding and optimizing the complex interplay between psychologic distress, inflammation, the limbic system and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis is critical in the integrative approach to healthy sleep patterns. This presentation emphasized the use of botanicals in this approach.
